Namaste from Nepal!

As the monsoon poured down on Kathmandu, cleaning the air and washing the streets, other good gifts also rained down into our home this summer. After studying hard for months, Nick and Pasang both took the grueling national School Leaving Certificate exams. We waited several months with some trepidation and in July we were all pleased by the news that they had both passed in first division and could move on to grades 11 and 12. They also both won full scholarships for grades 11 and 12 due to their basketball skills. We are very proud of them. It is wonderful to witness their lives being filled with the fruit of their labors.

Puja also was met with success this summer. She wrote an essay for the Theta Alpha International's "Rules of Life" essay competition of tenth grade girls and was awarded first prize. She was extremely happy and again, we are very proud. We look forward to seeing the article printed in the Theta Alpha Journal this fall.

After months and moths of running around red tape and bureaucracy, Rajendra finally obtained citizenship cards for Santosh, Chandra and Nick. It is exremely difficult for orphans to obtain citizenship in Nepal if they do not have living relatives willing to sign for them. We still have much work ahead of us in relation to a few more of our children.

As soon as Avia learned to stand on her own two feet, she began dancing and she's never stopped. She keeps us all laughing. Santosh is currently enjoying working at a chicken and fish farm. He is living at the farm and so it is a big step for him. The prospect of leaving the home and beginning his adult life has been a prolonged source of both excitement and worry. But he seems to be adjusting well. We are proud of him too. He comes home on Saturdays for church and a nice home-cooked meal. Chandra too is venturing out into independence. It is too early yet to say how it is going. But we are rooting for his happiness, success and wellbeing.

The other children are continuing to move up through school. Alisha is now in class 12. She will be taking the TOEFL and SAT tests this fall. She will then be applying to Bryn Athyn College of the New Church with the hope of starting in the fall of 2011. We are rooting for her success as well. We are proud of her diligence and hardwork.

All these good things have come to be only in relation to the generosity of our supporters. Thank you very much.
